  • Knowledge and understanding of the relevant aspects of anti-money laundering, combating terrorism finance (AML/CFT), proceeds of crime, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, and extradition legislation.
  • knowledge and understanding of relevant international instruments, including UN Security Council
  • Resolutions and Conventions relating to money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Banking & Finance, Administration, and other field (s) of social sciences from a recognized university.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial sector development in relevant national and international organisations (FIU; supervisory/regulatory authority, FSRB; Egmont Group; IFIs; etc), financial institutions.
  • Practical experience in financial sector development especially in West Africa, and particularly good understanding of financial products and services and regulatory environment.
  • Proven knowledge in Anti Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) issues (FATF Standards; FATF Methodology; etc.) and in-depth knowledge of compliance related issues (implementation of Anti Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) preventive measures) in financial institutions.
  • Experience in conducting AML/CFT mutual evaluations is desirable.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACAMs is desirable.
  • Good knowledge of the operations of financial intelligence units and Egmont Group activities
  • Good knowledge and understanding of relevant international instruments, and AML/CFT framework at national, supra-national and regional level levels.
  • Good working experience in GIABA member States will also be an added advantage.

Role Overview
Under the supervision of the Director of Administration and Finance, the translator shall be responsible for performing the following tasks:

  • The incumbent shall perform translation services from French into English of correspondences, Mutual Evaluation Reports -MERs), Follow-Up Reports (FURs) sometimes under very tight deadlines, for the institution involving the frequent use of terminologies relating to law, crime prevention, rule of law and other terminologies on money laundering and financing of terrorism.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the promotion of the use of coherent and uniform terminologies in GIABA documents.
  • Ensure planning, coordination and control of the activities of the translation unit when requested by the head of the Unit;
  • Ensure the timely revision of documents translated from French into English;
  • Identify changes, trends, inconsistencies and linguistic variations in the various areas of terminology used in the fight against money laundering and combatting the financing of terrorism;
  • Conduct linguistic research and documentation of multi-lingual terminology publications (bulletins, glossaries, vocabularies, notes and related materials);
  • Ensure the maintenance and update of data bases and linguistic terminology materials;
  • Efficiently use computer-assisted translation to deliver translation services as may be needed from time to time;
  • Undertake, independently, specific missions at the request of the Head of Language Servies;
  • Perform any other task that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor

Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in translation degree from a recognized university;
  • 5 years of experience in translation and technical writing;
  • Proven knowledge of computer-assisted translation tools, machine translation tools and on-screen editing

  • Sound knowledge of the structure and content of language including the meaning and spelling of words,

Role Overview

  • Under the supervision of the Executive Assistant of the Director General, the Office Manager should play a vital role in the smooth running of the Directorate.
  • From welcoming visitors to reception of calls, fixing appointments, organizing the schedule of his/her superior, drafting of correspondence and filing documents, her duties will be critical to the daily activities of the Institution.
  • In this regard, he/she should be quite accessible and responsive in the face of competing demands from both internal and external parties.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Management of the Supervisor’s schedule: receive and welcome visitors; organise and manage appointments; keep the Supervisor’s timetable; make telephone calls; verify in-coming calls to ensure their importance and possibility to respond; manage the Director’s diary and schedule.
  • Administrative management: organise meetings; receive, draft, type and make follow-up on administrative letters; meeting room bookings; provide supplies to the office.
  • Management of mail: Create a recording system of in-coming and out-going mails; ensure archiving and filing of documents; manage documents (in-coming and out-going, filing of letters); ensure follow-up on documents submitted to the Director for signature.
  • Monitoring office supplies and ordering new stationery, furniture, appliances and electronics as required.
  • Undertake any other duty assigned by the superiors.

Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a High National Degree or equivalent in a field relevant to specialized area in bilingual secretariat plus additional training in administrative management.
  • Minimum of 6 years working experience in progressive secretarial posts in a bilingual environment with language-related experience including text processing, editorial assistance, or document processing preferably in an international organization
  • Age: The minimum age for recruitment is 24 and the maximum age is 50.
  • Age limit is not applicable to internal candidates
  • Language: Candidates must speak one of the official languages of ECOWAS: English, French or Portuguese. Knowledge of a second official ECOWAS language is an advantage.

Salary
G5: UC 31,502.30 (US$ 49,704.33) / G6: UC 35,815.21 (US$ 56,509.24) / G7: UC 40,223.63 (US$ 63,464.83).
